Walleye gets netted in nick of time

Check out the fish that didn't get away!!!

Speed Trolling for Success

Hey, Andrew Martinsen here. Speed trolling around weeds is something anyone can do. It may not be a tactic you're used to, but that's half the fun. Here are some of the ins-and-outs of this method, plus a link to the full article below.
"You wanna speed troll weededges for walleyes? Anyone can do it with a little attitude adjustment and the right tackle. First, adopt the mental stance that you're multispecies trolling, that all those other fish species you'll catch are just fine, and that the walleyes will come -- sometimes in bunches. Second, to greatly reduce the hassle while increasing your effectiveness around greenery, switch to floating-diving crankbaits, rather than to metal-bodied lures that sink at rest. And third, hang on tight. Strikes are savage and will spin you around in your chair -- even with walleyes."

Andrew Martinsen - The Great Walleye Fishing Escape

There truly is nothing like escaping to another country to do some walleye fishing. Canada has some of the most pristine nature you'll ever find, making it a great place to get away for a few days.

The Great Escape

In Summer, Head for the Weeds

Found an interesting article about summer walleye fishing. Sure it's not the time when fishing is historically the strongest, but it's the time of the best weather, making it a great reason for us to get out there and give it a go. - Andrew Martinsen

"Working the outside or deep edge of a weed bed is usually a good bet and finding a big area of thin weeds in the middle of a thick weed bed can be a regular bonanza. The jig and minnow combination is a surprisingly weedless lure and it will go through pretty thick stuff. Many a strike will come just as you pull the jig off a weed.'

Andrew Martinsen - Best Walleye Fishing in a Decade

Anglers on Lake Erie are enjoying the good old days right now. Fishing hasn't been this good on the lake in recent memory:

"The key has been the 2003 class of walleye, the best reproductive year in more than two decades. Those walleye are now 16 to 19 inches in length and fueling the excellent fishing. Hopefully, this year's class of walleye will be just as good after a dismal hatch in 2004 and mediocre reproduction in 2005."
